Miss Korea Heading for Universe Showdown


Lee Honey, the winner of the 50th Miss Korea beauty pageant, left Korea on Wednesday to take part in the 2007 Miss Universe contest. Lee and her family are headed for Mexico City where the international event will take place on May 28.
"I hope to have an opportunity to rebuild Korea's image which was tarnished by the tragic deaths at Virginia Tech,"
"I hope to have an opportunity to rebuild Korea's image which was tarnished by the tragic deaths at Virginia Tech," Lee said in an interview with the Korea Times, which hosts the Miss Korea pageant. "I will do my best while aiming for first place."
Lee will spend three days in Los Angeles before flying to Mexico to participate in pre-competition events which start May 1. Lee has practiced walking, speaking and traditional Korean dance for three months to prepare for the pageant.

A 23-year-old Korean traditional harp player with dark brows and lovely dimples was chosen as Miss Korea 2006. Lee Honey (Ha-nui), a graduate student of Korean traditional music at Seoul National University, was honored as the most beautiful woman in South Korea at the 50th pageant ceremony held at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in the heart of Seoul.
